Symptom: Keyman keyboard not working like I expect
[edit]
Are you using a unicode font?
For SIL fonts, fonts beginning with "SIL" are NOT unicode.
[edit]
Next: Do things behave as expected in Notepad?
- Go to the Windows TaskBar, click "run..."
- Enter "notepad"
- In Notepad set the font you need
- Switch on the keyboard (using Keyman or the Windows Language bar)
- Type something
If something doesn't work there, you know the problem isn't in WeSay.
[edit]
Next: Is the Writing System in WeSay set up correctly?
- Run the WeSay Configuration Program for this project
- Go to Writing Systems, choose the writing system you are having trouble with, click on the "Basic" tab.
- Ensure that the box labeled "Keyboard Name" has the correct keyboard. If you see the same name listed more than once, read Windows Repeated Keyboard Name Bug.
- Click on the "Font" tab.
- In the Text Sample Area, type something. You should get the same behavior as in Notepad.
[edit]
Next: Is the field you want to use showing the correct Writing System?
- In the WeSay Configuration Program, Go to "Fields"
- Ensure the field you're testing has this writing system checked.
[edit]
Next: Help the developers reproduce your problem
- Send an email to issues wesay org (insert the "." and "@"), saying you've followed the steps on this page and are still having a problem. Tell us:
- What keyboarding system you're using (Keyman? What Version? Built-in to Windows? MSKLC? KMFL on Linux?)
- Where to find the font
- Where to find the keyboard
- What to type, in what field, to see the problem. What do you see? What do you expect to see?
This will create bug "ticket" for the developers. We may then ask you to use the Actions:Send EMail task to send us a zipped copy of your project.
