Semantic Domain List Localization
The semantic domain information that is used by the "Collect Words By Semantic Domain", out of the box, uses Ron Moe's Dictionary Development Process list, in a number of languages. This page describes how to make it show the language you want.
If what you're wanting is to use a different list altogether, see How to customize the semantic domains.
First, does WeSay already come with semantic domain lists in a language you can use? Today (Feb 2008) is has English and French; Indonesian, Thai, and Burmese are expected soon. To find out, find the directory where WeSay is installed and look in the "common" directory. Look for files named DDP4Questions-xx.xml, where xx is the Ethnologue code for the language. To find out what we have without installing WeSay, just look in this directory of our source tree.
If WeSay does have the language you want, here's how to make it show. In the WeSay Configuration Tool, go to the Fields area, and find the Semantic Domain field. In the setup tab, find the Writing Systems control. Place a check mark next to the language you need, and use the up arrow button to make it the first in the list. Now when you run WeSay and go to the the Semantic Domain task, you should see everything in that language.
If WeSay does not yet have the language you want, you can ask us to include it. Post your request to the WeSay Users List. You don't have to wait for us to do that; you are free to follow these instructions. There is this google email list for discussing all things ddp, especially the process of translating and disseminating them.
