Notes on Export To SFM
To export to Standard Format (Shoebox/Toolbox/MDF), click the "Export to SFM" button in the list of "actions". If the action you want is not already enabled in WeSay, you need to run the WeSay Configuration program, go to the Actions list, and enable it for this user.
Note, you can run these actions from the WeSay Configuration Program, too. Just click on the button of the action.
The exported sfm file will go in the "export" directory of your WeSay project, labeled projectName-sft.txt.
Do not rely on this feature for preserving every bit of data you have in an existing SFM file that you have converted to WeSay's format (LIFT). If your needs entail moving data back and forth from Toolbox to WeSay, you need to test this feature out carefully to make sure it meets your needs. I know, it seems to folks that import and export of SFM should be trivial, but if a program does not use SFM internally, it is and extremely time-consuming development effort. The whole reason programs like FieldWorks and WeSay have moved away from that format is that it is so error-prone on the human operator side and so difficult for other computer programs to understand the intent of the SFM entry.
TODO: Explain how to customize the SFM export using the "Setup up..." dialog.
